What is moissanite and how does it compare to diamonds?

Moissanite stone is composed of silicon carbide (SiC) and is known for its brilliance and durability. Moissanite can be found naturally, however is more commonly created in the lab. Moissanite also passes the diamond tester as it has a similar thermal and electrical conductivity as diamond.

Comparing moissanite to diamonds, it has a greater brilliance and fiery appearance. It is slightly less durable, with a hardness of 9.25 Mohs, whilst the diamond has a 10 Mohs rating. Because moissanite is lab-grown, it can also be considered more ethical and sustainable than diamond. Moissanite is also much more affordable than diamond.

What is the difference between VVS moissanite and other grades?

Moissanite that is graded as VVS (Very Very Slightly Included) refers to the clarity of the gemstone. This indicates the stone has few inclusions and imperfections visible under 10x magnification. VVS moissanite is the highest grade and quality of moissanite you can get.

Grades below VVS Moissanite include VS (Very Slightly Included), SI (Slightly Included) & I (Included). The difference between these grades is the amount of inclusions and imperfections they have.

Can I shower or swim while wearing this bracelet?

Yes, you can shower and swim wearing this bracelet. Our bracelet is made using a 925 sterling silver base which has been plated 5x with white gold. 925 sterling silver and white gold are low-reactive metals and will not tarnish, fade or turn your skin green when exposed to water.
